The presentation of the course covered topics and techniques that increase an officer\'s ability to better perform searches of suspect vehicles, allowing more positive results of searches, whether one finds contraband or not. The course also showed methods and considerations for better officer safety and interaction with the public at large, which in turn increases the level of safety when conducting interdiction operations. Overall, the course and instructor were very beneficial and increase the knowledge toolbox no matter what level of experience the participating officer is at.

When answering "yes" to "Will you be able to USE what you learned in the course?", it is in reference to the only thing picked up from the course which was to be a little more thorough when searching for contraband. As stated in the written post-class eval., the instructor stated that this course was originally 3-days long and it had been narrowed down to 2-days. I believe the course could have been narrowed down even further to just 1-day. Day 1 from 8am until lunch was only introducing ourselves (the introduction activity took entirely too long for a class of 30ish people) and slowly going over a single court case which only resulted in a little "personal use" narcotics. The court case could have been sped up to cover the important points and continue with another hour or two spent covering additional topics. The "officer safety" portion of the class can be taken out of the course entirely. While officer safety is an important part of all law enforcement duties, I spoke to at least 5 other individuals in the class that did not think we need 3-5 videos about officers getting shot while on duty. This is not to make light of any officer shooting, however these videos did not involve drug interdiction. The only video that dealt with officer safety during the course of drug interdiction was the instructor's personal video (the only video that made sense to include in the course). Either the course or the instructor seemed to be tailored to speaking with students who had no law enforcement experience. The course seemed like a slow academy level class on how to be a police officer and what you might encounter. For experienced officers/agents, this course dragged on and did not provide any new information on vehicle drug interdiction. This may be no fault of the training instructor, but the information we were sent about the course during sign-up contained no information on how advanced the course material would be. Knowing this would have helped determine that this class was possibly meant for law enforcement that are new and have little to no experience with pulling a vehicle over.
