I would recommend that the instructor not spend over half an hour each class to check if everyone's equipment works properly or not. Maybe he should have a technical assistant so they can handle that aspect of the class while the instructor starts teaching the material immediately. I thought there was too much downtime dealing with that issue.

The information provided was of great value. Not everyone is familiar with Microsoft Office/Excel and the various uses it can have for the mission so to review basic formulas, as well as how they can be applied to real-world factors was helpful. There were some difficulties faced during the course. Some were more personal and others were general. Personally I am not very proficient in Microsoft Office and while I was able to follow along during the first day/half of the course, the second day/half was difficult to follow along with. The information felt very fast paced, to the point where I would lose track of how we got to where we were. The presenter, while obviously well-informed of the subject, spoke in a way that was very sporadic and made it difficult to keep up on some of the information.
In terms of general issues, one of the Excel workbooks/spreadsheets that was provided was such a large file that any attempt I made to it while following along with the instructor would cause the file to freeze. I ended up closing and re-opening the document numerous times and ultimately had to resort to watching the instructors screen because I could no longer copy what was occurring. This made it very difficult to retain a large portion of the second half/day of the course. I learn better through action and repetition so only being able to watch and not participate was a challenge for me.
Overall, the information was very useful and it was interesting to see how the features and programs of Excel can be applied to narcotics investigations. In the future I'd love to have a course that offered, and encouraged more hands on approach to learning, and provided the opportunity for that to take place as part of the course material.

1. Course was rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice which caused great inconvenience on multiple dates.
2. Course was advertised as 16 hours (8 per day) but at noon the instructor unexpectedly announced we were done (another scheduling inconvenience).
3. Course can be improved by providing a syllabus or some sort of direction for what will be covered.
4. Course should start on time as scheduled, not make everybody wait for late people.
5. Course can be improved by increasing the size and color of the instructor's cursor and not moving it around the screen so fast. It's hard to find and keep up with all the movements, especially when it's small (constantly increasing and decreasing the size of my own view is a constant hassle and distracts from learning).

My agency provides training for the info presented. The only thing that really interested me was getting additional help with pivot tables and I was unable to access the worksheet used for the that portion of the training (my agency didn’t allow access to the site) so I was unable to do hands on training. This training is good for brand new excel users.

Practical exercises at the end of day two were very rushed. I actually bailed on the final 45 minutes of the class because almost no time was given to work through the practical exercises. This class had a mix of experienced Excel users and people starting from near scratch. As soon as one person had finished a practical exercise, the instructor began breaking down the process and not letting people work through it. This was as fast as 30-40 seconds in a few cases. It was frustrating. Otherwise the class was great.

The instructor did a great job with involving the student especially in a remote course. He was engaging throughout which is difficult considering the topic and remote training venue. Clearly he knows his subject matter very well. Allowed the class to divert from the course schedule to answer questions and demonstrate how to address the issue. I loved that it was 4 hours. The only suggestions would be to include a follow up course, to include in the sign up that participants must enable a microphone before class, and to suggest that participants have access to more than one computer screen for the class.

What's weird is the email that initiated this class said it was a 2-day all day class for excel in narcotics investigations and after this says it was excel for Public Safety and it was a 3 day class. Clearly there is some mislead/miscommunication.
On another note, I enjoyed the instructor's interest in excel. The first day was a good refresher course. The second day was better, but the last half of the time was fast. I think it *could* be of benefit to provide sample problems to do on our own time, when the class is done, so we can try it at our own speed, where answers are also provided. Or make it an option. I struggled with Pivot Tables. It's very mathematical to me and doesn't come naturally.

Mr. Englefield presented the material in a practical and simple manner. I appreciated the variety of data sets and use of real-world information to exhibit how the techniques could be applied. Definitely learned some tricks that I will pass on to my colleagues.

The course moved at a good pace. I appreciated the analogy of crawling first before running, so the pace was great. I appreciated the step by step demonstration. I was hoping for a two day 8 hour course, however, it appears it that NCRIC advertised it wrongly. Nonetheless, it was a good course. Thanks

As suggestions to improve the course, it would be helpful for instructor to go in the order of training from the pdf and/or have a training schedule to understand what topics are going to be covered during certain times. Many of us are working while learning so it make it hard to follow when it does not go in order.
Also to help support instruction would be to have assistant to answer chat support so the class can continue without interruption.
