There was an issue with the computer audio. I could not talk to the instructor on the computer, but I dialed in on the telephone and was able to communicate.

In my opinion, the course has potential. Perhaps if it were longer the class would have been able to learn more of what Excel has to offer the LE industry. The 1st day of the course was spent going over basics, limiting the time to learn new things. The instructor did, although, offer additional assistance with anything we might want to ask specifically to our needs.

There were quite a few connection issues and a lot of time spent on technical difficulties. Introductions are nice but the hour or so spent with technical issues and attempting to get the communications working did not seem justifiable with the limited amount of class time.

Online training was good. I think for myself I realized I need hands on when it comes to the Conditional Formatting and Formulas would work better for myself. I will utilize the test examples which is very much appreciated.

Hosted online, I felt like this course lacked the hands on assistance that many students would otherwise benefit from. While there were many high quality handouts and sample data, it was not easily digestible as we would jump from one dataset to another for each exercise. It was more of a "do what I do" off of the instructor, rather than understanding what exactly it is that you are doing and how it could be beneficial to you. For example, the instructor would have unclear transitions into the upcoming topic and I had to follow along by looking at her dataset, rather than referring to the PowerPoint that organized each topic. Overall, based on the price and recommendations from my co-workers' experience, I expected a lot more from this training. There are many other cheaper courses that offer basic excel training, just not for public safety professionals specifically. I look forward to taking more Police Technical trainings in the future, as this was my first one ever, but unfortunately I cannot recommend this particular course to others.

Had some difficulty with setting up the mic to be able to talk back in the beginning. I felt the intro was a little long spent an hour of getting to know everyone. The flow of the course was good. Instructor had some computer issues where her screen frozen. Overall I did learn a lot of things that I did not know excel did.

More geared toward administrative duties. The quality of the software used to do the training was poor and there was many technical difficulties the first day.

The course felt very unpolished. On multiple occasions the instructor had technical difficulties with opening files, performing operations, etc. and it made the flow of the class hard to engage with. I also felt that 75 minutes of introductions on the morning of the first day was completely unnecessary. There could have been a quick poll that took 5 minutes that captured people's locations, skill levels, etc.

I think this course would be more beneficial if it was broken into two courses. One for beginners and one for intermediates. Although I learned some things in this class, I feel like I could have learned a lot more if we didn't have to go over the basics of excel before really getting into things.

In the Final Comments, the first issue was spending the entire first hour with introductions and what each student hoped to gain from the class. Just taking roll call and confirming connections would have been sufficient. If information is required regarding what a student's job duties are and what they hope to gain from the class, this information should be collected a day before the class begins. Then there were issues with the Instructor's computer and losing her place from time to time making it difficult to stay engaged.

Our agency purchased two registrations for this course under the presumption it would be more 1 to 1 - active participation at $300 each. We learned on the first day it was actually a follow along webinar with other agencies present that had multiple people watching on the same screen. The course is very basic in nature. The first hour of the first day was spent simply on introductions and understanding where everyone's comfort level is with Excel. This should be done ahead of time and the course material catered to the overall level for the class. We spent the first day going over individual buttons in Excel and very basic things like resizing columns and creating extra sheets. I believe most of us knew how to do this given the experience level for the class. I would have liked to know how we can connect outside databases into these spreadsheets to perform the work/customizations shown to us on the second day of the course. Time to have the instructor look at live data examples from an agency perhaps and how they can be utilized better. Thank you, Brennan Wagner - FDLSO

I have attended other Police Technical classes in the past, and have enjoyed and learned from them. This class was supposed to be an in person class and for whatever reason it got switched to virtual and the time was cut in half from what the in person class was supposed to be. The instructor blew through the material and didn't even cover the overwhelming majority of the powerpoint. While she was extremely knowledgeable, this class really needed us in person doing the hands on while she walked around to check on us. I will more than likely not recommend another class from your organization if they are going to follow this format of presentation. I oversee our training unit and asked them to keep me posted if anyone puts in for your trainings so I can evaluate if it's the best money spent for our department.
