Instructor Bruce Moats did an excellent job of in instructing this two day class on the ‘The Dark Web.’ He made it understandable for the uneducated novice and it appeared the most seasoned investigators were able to get information that would assist them in their current investigations, based on questions asked and the dialogue between Bruce and the person asking. Bruce’s real life examples, going over the issues that he encountered during those investigations were very helpful and relatable. I definitely will be able to use information I’ve learned in the training in the cases I’m currently providing intel support to. I will be looking through Police Technical’s upcoming training calendar to attend future training classes. At our next Criminal Analysts ‘All Hands’ meeting I will bring up Police Technical and tell everyone to look through the training schedule and find some classes they need. Excellent work by Police Technical and Instructor Bruce Moats. Thank you.

I would specify in the course flyer next time not to just bring a laptop with internet access...that's all it said so I brought my agency laptop, but to bring one that is able to go on the Dark Web...I had to use my personal phone in class since my agency computer is so restricted. Not a huge deal but something to think about.

The course was okay, definitely learned something. I wish the instructor matched the content creator for the course material, that would've made sense and would't have as much reading from the slides. I would recommend less personal stories and less discussion on Silk Road as it is no longer the main issue at the center of this topic and is kinda old news. I also would like there to be a structured segment where we are all able to actually go onto the dark web, or the instructor goes on it, just to have this be a more interactive class and more hands-on. I will speak for myself; when it comes to this topic, no matter how much you teach me via PowerPoint slides etc, I will be able to grasp this unless it is hands-on and with guidance. Lastly, I would recommend this being held in a Law Enforcement Facility with reliable internet access. Yes, I did learn something, but I also am very disappointed.

Bruce was a great instructor who had experience in the field he was teaching. The course was a great introduction to the deep/dark web.

The handout was good. In addition a thump drive or CD would be a good material for the course. The location was good, I would like to see tea, coffee and maybe bagel.
